SAMIT BHALALA APPOINTED TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS ARIZONA EXECUTIVE BOARD COMMITTEE

Bhalala brings a valuable business background and community leadership to the SOAZ Board of Directors group

President and CEO Jamie Heckerman announced the addition of Samit Bhalala as an Executive Board Member for Special Olympics Arizona.  Samit brings a valuable business background and community leadership to the SOAZ Board of Directors group, who play an integral role in the success and growth of Special Olympics Arizona.

“Our board members play such a key role in the continued growth and development of Special Olympics Arizona and we are extremely thankful for all they do,” Heckerman said.  “We are proud and excited to welcome Samit to the Special Olympics Arizona family and look forward to working alongside him.”

Samit is an attorney with Lewis Roca, helping his clients navigate a wide range of complex corporate and real estate matters.  He is a native Arizonan, born and raised in Tucson, and was an attorney there prior to calling Phoenix home in 2021.  Always putting the needs of his clients first, Samit has become a trusted advisor in all aspects of business affairs.  In his free time, Bhalala can be found playing basketball or tennis, or cheering on his beloved Arizona Wildcats.

“I am honored to be a part of such a special organization with the opportunity to work alongside my fellow business leaders, the SOAZ staff, and most importantly, these outstanding athletes,” Bhalala said.  “I have a huge passion for mentoring and sports, I hope to bring that to the table to help continue growing this organization and its athletes.”

The purpose of Special Olympics Arizona is to empower children and adults with intellectual disabilities to live healthy, fulfilling and meaningful lives. This vision of acceptance and inclusion is realized through health, leadership and advocacy programs, as well as providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving more opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
