SPECIAL OLYMPICS ARIZONA ANNOUNCES COPPER STATE RAFFLE WINNERS
FUNDRAISING RAFFLE OFFERED CASH, CARS, VACATIONS AND OTHER PRIZES ALL TO BENEFIT SPECIAL OLYMPICS ARIZONA ATHLETES
The first-ever Special Olympics Arizona Copper State Raffle is now in the books, with a total of 153 participants winning a prize throughout the four-month raffle. The two biggest winners were Hugo F. and Christopher B., who won the Grand Prize and the 50/50 raffle, respectively.
Both residents of Tucson, Hugo won the grand prize and took home $75,000; while Christopher won the 50/50 raffle that was worth more than $53,000.
“Congratulations to Hugh and Christopher for taking home the raffle’s two biggest prizes, and congrats to all of the winners across the board,†said Jamie Heckerman, President and CEO.
The Copper State Raffle was a nearly four-month long raffle for Special Olympics Arizona that served as a fundraising tool to help support SOAZ and it’s more than 21,000 athletes across the state.

“I want to thank everyone who helped Special Olympics Arizona through this raffle, we have a tremendous community of supporters and it showed once again,†Heckerman said. “It has been a trying year and more of a struggle to raise much needed funds, and this comes at a perfect time as we get ready to return to in person activities for our athletes this Fall.â€
The purpose of Special Olympics Arizona is to empower children and adults with intellectual disabilities to live healthy, fulfilling and meaningful lives. This vision of acceptance and inclusion is realized through health, leadership and advocacy programs, as well as providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving more opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and
friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
