Special Olympics Athlete Chris Nikic Wins Laureus Sporting Moment of the Year Award
Chris was presented with the award during a virtual ceremony
After shattering expectations and becoming the first person with Down syndrome to complete an IRONMAN triathlon, Chris Nikic has made history again by being the first person with an intellectual disability to win a Laureus sports award.
On 6 May2021, Chris was presented with Laureus Sporting Moment of the Year Award during a virtual ceremony. He follows in the footsteps of Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver who won the Laureus Sport for Good Award in 2000.
